Whew, lots of destinatons but at leastr i am not gone too long. i have openings left this week before i leave so please call to schedule.

As many of you know every year we attend the Long beach hair show and reassess what we are offering to our clients as far as support for your hair and skin. This year Amy, Kathleen Jo Nelle and I went in search of higher learning. There is so much to see from so many. That is why I decided back in December to bring Amy and Kathleen to Chicago for the ABS show as their Christmas present (along with a career investment payment from them!).

Here are the new products we found in Long Beach:

Eyelash Enhancer Rapid Lash eyelash renewal serum $50 see results and story at www.rapidlash.com Many of you have been asking about an eyelash and eyebrow enhancer. This one is much more reasonably priced then Latisse and very effective.

Dry Shampoo We now carry Batiste dry shampoo in both regular and travel size. $7-$13 Kathleen tried it and got tons of volume out of second day hair, a rarity for her, she highly recommends it.

Breakout Barrier Ever have that one breakout that always seems to pop up before a special event? this anti blemish drying lotion starts working instantly and dries up blemishes in 24 to 48 hours max. Everyone should have this in their makeup box! $30.

Hair Smoothing Systems With all of the interest in the Brazilian Blowout treatments we have been testing a Vegan alternative from Zerran that is supposed to last 2-4 months. we are currently tracking the service for longevity and we will keep you posted.

Coming soon! We are looking at a couple of skin care additions and a new premium shampoo and conditioner system comparable to Purology. Will fill you in soon on those!

Tranquility Lounge News: Jo Nelle is doing a great job taking over our skin care department and has been building a very loyal base of facial clients, thank you to all for embracing her into our studio. With the warmer weather around the corner, she would like to remind you it's almost bathing suit time and her Brazilian waxes will be priced at $40 for the month of March.

Promotions: With the desire to bring in new products we are going to be eliminating some of the products from the lines we are currently using. We promise to provide you with your favorites so don't worry about that. We have decided to add in a 40% off basket into our retail area, changing it out from week to week. it will be a first come, first serve purchase and i will email a picture of it to you to show you what is available. There will be hair care and skin care products included.

Stylist News: As many of you are aware, our business is pretty much on an appointment only system. I am happy to announce that both Amy(619-962-2400) and Kathleen(617-905-8105) are doing so well growing their client base that they are both able to commit more time to us here in the studio. Congrats to Amy for quitting her other job and joining us full time! Kathleen and Amy both assist me on certain days but are available most days. Don't forget to add them to your cell phone so you can easily refer them to your friends! Jamie(858-445-1037) continues to make our studio her new business address and we are proud to have her here. Please check out our web page below for their bios and menus of service.

And as always I would like to remind you all how valuable your loyalty has been to us for so long. thanks for making our studio your choice for your beauty services. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please forward this email to them and if you would like to be removed from this list, please let me know as well.

happy warmer days to all

Salons of Substance

Posted by Francie Sorem on October 3, 2010 at 7:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Hey everyone!

We are proud to announce that we are participating in this great fund raiser for my favorite charity San Diego Youth Services. please read flier below and feel free to pass on to your friends. Thanks so much to Jaimie of studio 56 for bringing 15 salons together, we are very proud to become one of the "Salons of Substance" for his great event

As many of you know, we place everyone's name, who refers a client each quarter, into a box and we draw out a winning name. Today Stacy Barker drew out Barbara Shaw's name as she was here in the salon getting a haircut. Barbara referred two new clients this month and so she doubled her chances of winning and it paid off with a $100. gift card. She opted to save it for a facial sometime soon.

Anyone referring someone to the fundraiser will also be entered into the quarterly raffle. So get the word out to your friends and we hope to be able to report a huge turnout for next Sunday.

Thanks to all for your continued support

Francie

Services begin with Street Outreach teams that find and offer resources to homeless young people. About San Diego Youth Services

San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) is a non-profit charitable organization that since founded, has stabilized the lives of over 500,000 homeless, runaway, abused and at-risk youth in the San Diego area. Launched in 1970 when volunteers established one of the first runaway youth shelters in America, SDYS now provides intensive services to more than 10,000 children and their families each year. This nationally recognized agency offers emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids “on their own” by providing shelters, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing.

SDYS brings to Southern California the most effective ways to help kids in danger. Individual children are referred to SDYS by a variety of sources, including word of mouth from other youth, schools, police and probation officers, and community organizations. Six nights a week, Outreach Teams search out youth who believe they have nowhere to run for help. Their full spectrum of programs are designed to help young people achieve their own self-sufficiency. Their administrative staff is small and are proud that 85.6% of all funds go to serve youth directly.

SDYS MISSION is to help at-risk youth and their families become self-sufficient and reach their highest potential.

Their All About…

Their  working to ...

End Homelessness Prevent Delinquency and School Failure Break the Cycle of Child Abuse and Neglect Promote Mental Health and Addiction Recovery

Okay, the long awaited moment has arrived. Since January we have been collecting the names of all the clients that have given us referalls that led to new clients for
the final Cut Hair Studio.
We have also added in the names of the people who have "yelped" about us on yelp.com or written a review on this web page for us. These reviews that have been written have generated several new clients for us so we are most grateful to all who take the time to do that for us. Since there were more then 15 names we drew out 2 of them for the $100 gift cards to our studio and the Tranquility Lounge next door.

Drum roll please. . . .
and the winners are:

Stephanie Bauerline

Rita Burkhart

You may pick up your gift cards at yoyur earliest convenience!
for those of you who want to get in on the next drawing on July 1st please refer your family and friends to our salon.

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to remind you that there is one more month left for our first referral drawing. Send a friend to our salon and we will put your name in a drawing for a $100 gift card! If we have more then 15 names each quarter in the box, we will draw two names for the award.

Gift card can be used for products or services and is fully transferable if you would like to give it to someone as a gift. We so appreciate your continued support, and instead of paying for advertising, we believe in reinvesting in all of you!

Just a heads up, we are going to be having our "learn to style your hair" event featuring the new Joico smoothing iron and other styling tips in 2 weeks on Saturday afternoon, feb. 13th. Save the date and we will be posting more info as the event gets closer.

Hope to see you soon!

Just one more thing about the Joico K-Pak Reconstructor Vapor Iron

Posted by Francie Sorem on February 5, 2010 at 9:43 AM Comments comments (0)

from www.makeupblogger.com

Joico K-Pak Reconstructor Vapor

Iron Taylor Swift owned the Grammys on Sunday night, and as she was scooping up her Grammy's I couldn't help staring at her glorious hair. Seriously, that girl has always had the most enviable ringlets.

I am happy to say that I now know her secret.  Taylor uses the K-Pak conditioner and Body Luxe hair care products. She is even quoted as saying "Joico products really seem to work in my hair".

Being the investigative beauty sluth that I am, I decided to look into Joico and see for myself.  I was able to try out the Joico K-Pak Reconstructor Vapor Iron (actually I grabbed it away from my friend), and I can say with complete confidence that this is one of the coolest new inventions I have seen.  I flat iron and fry my hair on a weekly basis, and now because of this amazing Iron I can flat iron and condition my hair at the same time!  When I tried it out I was overwhelmed with how straigh tand glossy this made my hair. The iron infuses your hair with K-Pak conditioner fuel while ironing your hair. Here are the details:

  • Decrease hair breakage by over 40%*

  • Reduce color loss due to daily shampooing and thermal styling by 33.5%*

  • Minimize curl reversion, even after 12 hours in 90% humidity*

  • 1.25” vented ceramic/silicone hybrid platesCeramic heat technology

  • Adjustable temperature control takes you from 284° F to 410° F in secondsThe K-Pak Fuel that steams through your hair includes:

This revolutionary liquid transforms with heat into a deep-penetrating vaporthat delivers all the benefits of K-PAK as you style.

  • Quadramine Complex® to reconstruct and protect hair from the cuticle to the cortex

  • Antioxidants to protect hair against damaging free radicals Essential fatty acids to restore shine, flexibility and manageability while balancing moisture levels

  • Botanical moisturizers to replenish moisture and enhance softnessFeatherweight silicones, which lock in moisture and seal the cuticle to eliminate frizz and deliver intense shine and smoothness to the hair

  • The Body Luxe line is a Volumizing hair care line that thickens with Oat Protein Complex.  No wonder her hair is always so full and luxurious!   Stumble It!

K-PAK ReconstRx Vaporiron Demo

Posted by Francie Sorem on February 3, 2010 at 9:22 AM Comments comments (3)

Hey Everyone!

Final Cut Hair Studio is proud to announce that we will be one of the first salons on the west coast to carry the new

K-PAK ReconstRx Vaporiron.

We will be setting up a date for an in salon Demo and styling lesson on how to properly use a flat iron to smooth, straighten and curl hair. this will be a great opportunity to have a hands on lesson to better use the styling equipment available today

If you are interested please let us know so we can include your input as to the date and time

Here is an article about the iron published this week in modern salon magazine

When weighing the pros and cons of a flatiron, the pros are easy: extra shine, smoothing, more control over wayward strands. There’s really only one con, but it’s a big one:

thermal damage that results in frayed, dry hair.

Joico—known for its reconstructing formulas for hair—is applying its talent for healing hair to a new thermal iron.

The K-PAK ReconstRx VaporIron is a styling iron system that actually reconstructs, repairs and protects hair as it smoothes and straightens.

So how does it work? There are two elements to the system:

1.    A built-in, refillable liquid reservoir that delivers ReconstRx VaporFuel deep into the hair as it styles. At the same time, state-of-the-art engineering—including 1.25-inch floating ceramic/silicone plates, even and consistent heat distribution and quick-heating, adjustable temperature control—produces optimum hair styling and straightening results.

2.    The K-PAK ReconstRx VaporFuel consists of a blend of K-PAK’s signature Quadramine Complex, which includes exclusive proteins, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and botanical moisturizers. It seals the cuticle and repairs the hair from the inside out while protecting the strands from further damage.

The VaporIron and VaporFuel refill.

The vapor action in the VaporIron system encourages the reconstructive VaporFuel formula to penetrate deeper into the hair, and the water-soluble formula produces no build up.

The best part? The iron provides 33 percent more hair color retention than other thermal irons.

The system comes with a how-to DVD featuring Joico International CreativeDirector Damien Carney.

Happy  New Year to all!!!!!

Hopefully 2010 will bring a much needed return to prosperity for everyone of us. I finally took the technological plunge and created a Final Cut web page. With Amy's help we became web experts in a quick afternoon, hahahahaha.

First of all I would like to congratulate the January winner from our Final Cut Calendar promotion. Those of you who purchased a calendar are eligible for the promos each month. In January we have a basket of Redken styling products and our congratulations go out to

June Yamomoto

You can pick up your winnings at your convenience.

As with all new years, i would like to inspire everyone i know to take on an endeavor or self searching. It is a time for looking at ourselves and seeing who we are and who we would like to become. This last year i was asked to write 10 things I know for sure as a hairdresser. When i was finished with my list, i felt a great feeling of accomplishment for the career i have poured my heart and soul into for the last 40 years.
here is my list

Ten things I know for sure as a Hair Dresser

1. I know i made the right decision 39 years ago to forgo a college education and risk the ridicule of my academic family to embark on an adventure of education, demoralization, humility, hard work, intense self scrutiny, passion, determination and success.

2. The more you know, the more you know you don't know. Every day every year, every lifetime, the more information you absorb and assimilate makes you humbly aware that there is so much more that you do not understand nor recognize.

3.  The "ah has" you learn through trial and error are all the more satisfying for the sense of discovery, but disheartening that they took you so long to learn.

4.  I always remember Roy Peters saying "There are only two rules of color you need to know. 1, that opposite colors on the color wheel neutralize each other out and 2, the darker color will always dominate. That was the canvas I was able to draw on for every law of color I learned afterwards. He was brilliant to put it so succinctly.

5. That in sharing education with others, you receive the gift ofencouragement, praise, knowledge, humility, and satisfaction. And the satisfaction is worth more then any of the money i ever got paid. I never forget the letters from persons that i have influenced in anyway. It is the highest achievement or award.

6.  I have the power of touch. I have the opportunity in my work to touch people physically, spiritually, intellectually and emotionally. It not only empowers me it empowers them as well, because they become a part of the connection that binds us all together.

7.  I know that i can cut someone's hair, and make their life easier for them. A good haircut styles itself, when it is not so good, every morning is a difficult exercise of frustration. I love it when a client comes in and tells me how easy their hair is to do.

8. The most difficult thing for me being  hair dresser is working on people who are unhappy or do not like themselves, because I know that I will never be able to  please them.

9. I love being a part of a business that is such a left brained and right brained dichotomy.

I , being a logic driven individual am continually fascinated by puzzling out how to accomplish methods and techniques to make my work easier and better. On the other hand I am continually challenged to create art not limited by logical applications. I admire the vision that is able to enjoy the process of creating beautiful art effortlessly, while i have to work at it so hard.

 10.  What i know most about being a hairdresser is that it is a lifeforce that runs through me and i could never give it up just like i cannot survive without breath in my lungs. I will be a part of this industry forever, because I have helped to teach and inspire those coming after me. And I see in them the passion to help others learn as well.  I am not famous nor well known, but I am respected and enjoyed by those who know me well.

It is the fame I live for.

I would love to hear from all of you with 10 things you know for sure about something you are passionate about. It could be motherhood, skydiving or martini making, but i would love to hear what all of you have to say. I will print up your responses and have them in a book in the salon. I hope that you will take the time to assess a part of you that we would all like to share in.

have a great January and i will be continuing to blog on this page from time to time. We have many exciting things coming up so please stay tuned

c u

luv u,

bye,

me
